YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP
GRADES 6-12
WORSHIP. Our youth discipleship begins in Sunday worship as our youth hear the WORD of God Sunday mornings and evenings alongside the whole family of God, worshiping TOGETHER in historic, inter-generational worship.
SUNDAY SCHOOL. We also gather our youth together in Sunday School (Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM in the Commons Loft). Our Director of Student Ministry takes a lead role in teaching the youth Sunday School classes on a myriad of topics including the Bible and its message, the Christian world and life view, how to cultivate a walk with God through Bible Study and prayer, how to share the faith, how to survive the spiritual challenges of college, and how to think through their own sense of calling/vocation to serve God as they grow into adults.
YOUTH EVENTS. We know the importance of good Christian friendships for our youth, so we value regular monthly youth gatherings throughout the year by which our youth can connect, deepen Christian friendships, and simply enjoy life together.
GRACE. GRATITUDE. GLORY.
GRACE. GRATITUDE. GLORY. These 3 Gs are our prayer for our youth. Saved by GRACE, Alive with GRATITUDE, Bound for GLORY. We pray that these would be the guide for their lives and the source of their energy and vitality.
ALPHA & OMEGA. The alpha and omega represent the One True God, who is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
COVENANTER’S CROSS. The Covenanter’s Cross, also featured in the crest of our ARP denomination, provides the framework of our mark. The heroic 17th century Covenanters of Scotland fought and died for the Church and gifted us the heritage of our own church and the Associated Reformed Church in America. They laid down their lives defending the crown rights of King Jesus to rule His Church on earth. We join with them as modern Covenanters who cherish Jesus as the Chief Head, Cornerstone, and King of His Church on earth.
GROWING TOGETHER
Times of togetherness are valuable for our youth, BUT one of the lynch pins of our philosophy for youth discipleship is the importance of transgenerational interaction, teamwork, and mentoring. In our increasingly compartmentalized world, it is too easy to separate our youth into age segregated ministry groups. This does not serve our young people well, robbing them of the wisdom of the fathers, mothers, and grandparents of the congregation. Outside of Sunday School and youth gatherings, we seek to see our youth mingle with the congregation elbow to elbow in worship, prayer, and ministry as they pursue God's glory and GROW TOGETHER.
